Time for the September Art Off Challenge, which I

Time for the September Art Off Challenge, which I co-host with @makesharerepeat .

The theme for September is Sashiko. Sashiko is traditional Japanese embroidery involving beautiful patterns of stitches. It's used both for decoration and for visible mending. You can go literal with the challenge and find a Sashiko pattern you'd like to stitch, or you can simply take inspiration from the art form and use it in a different media.

What is an Art Off? It's an opportunity to push boundaries and challenge ourselves to create based on a theme.

Here's how it works:
1. Create a project incorporating the theme. You can share sneak peeks but save the final reveal until the end of the month.
2. Art can take all forms, so don't feel limited by traditional mediums. Use your creativity and imagination to create something you love that connects to the theme.
3. Post your final piece between September 27-30. Tag @makesharerepeat and @indigo_whimsy and the hashtags #artoffchallenge #makercircle
4. Feel free to comment and like posts by your fellow art off artists.

The winner of the challenge is all of us, because we get to challenge ourselves to create and be inspired by other artists. Creating in a community is fun and inspiring!

Day 9 of the #inchiechallenge. Fern. Truth? I've gone totally off the rails. I fell behind, caught up, forgot to post, lost an inchie (!), fell behind again, and generally went amuck. Now I'm posting out of order. It's fine... my art is one area of my life that I'm not interested in overregulating, but the chaos is making me laugh.

We're on vacation in Maine, but I was able to hunt down some fern-like plants and do some gel printing on the fly.
